Elders

LeadershipJesus is the Senior Pastor of Redemption Church, and Jesus leads His under-shepherds in a plural eldership.

At Redemption Church, we use the term “elder” to describe those called to shepherd the local church. In the New Testament the terms “pastor”, “elder”, and “overseer” are synonymous to describe the same function – that of a shepherd, or one called to lead, teach, and protect the church.

Our elder team is parceled into two areas of gifting: staff and laity. The staff elders, who we call “pastor/elders”, are those uniquely gifted for leading, preaching and teaching (1 Timothy 5:17). The lay elders confer with the staff elders to affirm direction and vision. The collective team of elders is called to guard, teach and lead the church.

All Redemption Church elders are required to participate in the Praxis leadership discovery track (more info).
